Hello everyone! I’m sorry that you all haven’t heard from me in a while! It’s been a very busy summer on the horse show circuit and on the lakes! This past summer I competed in Horse Shows by the Bay in Williamsburg, which is north of Traverse City. It turned out to be the best show for me!

During the three weeks I competed on both of my Horses, Lanshark and Roulette 22. I showed Roulette in the Baby Green Hunters which is a division for young horses over jumps that are 2 feet six inches. I showed Lanshark in the 16-17 Large Junior Hunter Divisions and we both did very well!

By the end of the third week we were Champion in the 16-17 Large Junior Hunter Division! We also had multiple wins in the Unrestricted Child-Adult Hunters which is a division where jumps are an option of three feet three inches or three foot. It was a very exciting show and there are always great events going on such as the Grand Prix where you can watch the top riders in the country, even the world, compete over large jumps against each other.

Horse Shows by the Bay also featured the International Hunter Derby where you can watch the top Hunter riders and top Hunter horses compete against each other for the top Hunter award. It’s a two-round competition over natural jumps and banks. The jumps can be as low as 3″6′ and as high as four feet. It’s an exciting event because the horses have to go over scary jumps and only the horse that can go over each jump gracefully and smoothly around the course will win the International Hunter Derby.

The first round is a regular hunter course which is a simple course. The second round is a much more complicated course. The horses might have to trot a jump, master a more challenging turn from one jump to another, or gallop to a jump. It’s one of the most exciting hunter events that has been created and it’s my favorite event to watch at the whole horse show!
