Spring Time in the Blue Grass

Kentucky Spring was my first spring horse show for the spring. My fellow barn-mates and I traveled down to Lexington, Ky. and we were all very successful. Unfortunately the weather was not agreeing with us. It rained everyday, and the show had to start later as well.
I competed in the Junior Hunters and The Legacy Cup. The Legacy Cup is held at the Kentucky Spring Horse show and it consists of the Professional, Junior, Amateur and Pony Hunters.
There is a pony section which consists of the fence height to the height of the pony. The small ponies are measured at 12.2 hands or smaller and jumps a 2’3’’ jump. A medium pony measures at 12.2 through 13.2 hands and jumps a 2’6’’ jump. A large pony is measured between 13.2 through 14.2 hands and jumps a 3 foot fence. Then there is a Professional division at the 3 foot fences and the 3’6’’ fences. As well as a Junior and Amateur division at the 3 foot and the 3’6’’ fences.
I competed in the Junior 3’6’’ division, and my first round was great except my horse wasn’t paying attention to the second jump and knocked off the top rail. I was frustrated about it at first, then I thought about the rest of my round. I realized I just put out the best round in my life after the second jump. Also, winning isn’t everything to me just as long as I have fun and learn something from my horse each ride. I was proud of myself for that. My junior hunter rounds went well I received many ribbons and my horse was good!
