Moving Up

Alissa, “Horse Tales”I excitedly finished my fifth week of showing in Florida! On Saturday I had two great rounds on my horse, Spankey, but I didn’t get any ribbons. I knew I rode great and deserved a ribbon, but all judges are different! On Sunday though, I got an eighth place in the Under Saddle and a sixth place in the Over Fences! It’s the best I have done since I have been down here. I’m very excited and very proud of my horse and myself!

My other teammates from Northern Pines also did very well. Rachel Reid competed the Low Junior Jumpers on her horse Blossom for the first time this year and earned a 7th place ribbon in the Classic and an 11th in another class! Also, Morgan Kennedy rode her horse Zaboomarang in the Medium Amateur Owner Jumpers to win the $10,000 Classic and rode away with Championship honors!

The girls and I have been busy doing daily chores such as feeding, watering, and cleaning out the horse’s stalls. We also pitch in on riding the extra horses, since there are more horses than people here. We also continue our work at the horse show when we have horses there. We have to clean out the paddocks twice a week to reduce the flies. There’s always something to do out at the barn such as laundry, cleaning tack, and sweeping out the feed and tack room.

I’m entering my final week in Florida and I’m hoping to move up to the Junior Hunters this weekend, which is the 3′ 6″ division, but if not, I will for sure at my next horse show!

Till then,
Alissa
