Balancing
Posted on March 10th, 2008 by Alissa in Horse Tales
The beginning of my third week in Florida was just a little wet. We had so much rain that our stalls at home and at the show flooded. When we cleaned out all of the wet shavings, we had to let it dry all day so we can put new shavings in. After the rain and the tornado, the rest of the week was really quiet. On one of the days I wasn’t really feeling like myself so I didn’t ride. Fortunate for my horse, he got the day off also and he enjoyed it by being in his paddock all day in the warm sun.
Another member of our barn, Rachel, came down this week and she is one of my really good friends! I’m excited for her to be here. Now we’re both looking forward to another Northern Pines rider coming down at the end of this week.
My showing went well again this weekend, but no ribbons. It seems like every year the competition gets tougher and tougher. But my horse is being good and I’m riding well, and we put out good rounds and I’m happy with that!
I’ve made it through my first three weeks and I’m learning to balance my school work and my barn work. I’m managing it all pretty well and I keep up with school on a daily basis, doing at least two or three hours every day, or whenever I’m not with the horses. It’s not easy, and it can get stressful sometimes, but by the end of the day I feel like I’ve accomplished something.
Till then,
Alissa
