Record-Eagle launching new employment site

MonsterIn addition to the changes happening this week at (read about those here »), we are also launching a new employment Web site in partnership with the biggest name in online employment search, As of Saturday, September 1, will change to our new Monster format.

Employers will love our partnership with, because now, any help wanted advertisement placed with the Record-Eagle is also placed with, at a fraction of the cost you would normally pay. Employers may contact our employment specialist, Misha Barney, for complete details at 231-933-1433 or email

Monster Home Page As a job seeker, you will be able to search the entire database of jobs from our Web site, getting local results first without having to specify your location. Search the jobs database by keyword, company name, or category. View a sneak-peek of the new search page by clicking the thumbnail image at right.

Monster ListingsSort your results by job title, company, date, relevance to your search terms, or distance from Traverse City. See a sneak-peek at the results page by clicking the image at left (note: this page is from our sister paper in Andover, Mass. who is already live on the system. Ours will look the same but contain local jobs).

Create a Monster Search Agent to email you about jobs that match your search criteria. Locally-placed classifieds will remain on the Monster site for 7 or 30 days (depending on the employer’s preference), so you will have ample time to get back to the site to view the jobs your search agent has found.

When you publicly file your resume with the new*, it will be also viewable to the millions of employers nationwide using the resume database.

All of our help wanted ads will still appear in our classifieds at, but many local jobs on the Monster network will contain additional information entered by the employer that will appear only on the Monster network.

Current accounts and resumes on are not transferable to our new Monster site. You can use an existing Monster account or create a new account to file your resume.

Craigslist > Monster. Work at home, get money fast$$$. I don’t know anyone that has actually got a job from monster. The website is so full of spam that it’s not even worth going to. Bad idea in my honest opinion. You should consider doing something with Michigan works instead. It could help people in our state and it doesn’t get the spam that monster gets. I have had much more luck with Michigan works website then with monster.

Thanks for your comment, Matt. One reason Monster is partnering with newspaper companies like our corporate owners, CNHI, Inc., is to obtain the quality job listings usually found in newspaper classifieds. Also, we were assured by Monster that as of Jan. 1, 2008, they will no longer accept the kind of “Work From Home” ads you are so rightly complaining about.

Well it’s good to hear that they are doing something about the scams that have taken over their site. Hopefully the other sites will do the same. Thanks for the response.

I asked for record eagle to send me via E-mail the offers of jobs posted in the eagle , What happened to this service ?? cant seem to renew it, or to find it on your site .

Gary, in September we changed employment Web sites, so if you had set up an e-mail service on our old site, it will no longer be valid on the new site. You must now set up an account with Monster to receive the same service.

Go to and click on the “My Monster” link to create an account or login if you already have one.
